a haiku year

“The person who tells you this is impossible is the person you should start a haiku challenge with.”

About June 20, 2008

In 1998 a book was published by Soft Skull Press called the haiku year. A gathering of friends made a plan to write haiku every day and mail then to each other. None of them managed to write every single day–likely none of us will either. But to try.

They hoped to learn about each other and themselves, to become more aware, more charged, more alive. If we are successful we will notice the ordinary becomes extraordinary. Readers are always welcome. If you would like to write please look at the FAQ page for instructions.

[Our tag line is a quote from Tom Gilroy in the haiku year intro.]
