He’s been where I am.
This exhaustion new to me,
he saw it coming.

He owns calm patience.
I fret over the fractious.
He sees through my walls.

Climbing them, he smiles
at his new-found silly bear.
“Stop being so tough.”

I grin / rolling eyes.
“I made you lunch,” he declares.
Kindness radiates.

I melt and embrace,
my defenses made useless.
He honors me. Bliss.
